[Bonds Panel]

This panel allows the user to choose how to display bonds and to determine, along with the selection panel ,the criteria for whether or not bonds between particular atoms should be displayed. All changes made to the bond display take effect when the "SAVE" button is selected

The buttons on the left determine how the bonds are rendered:

  • POINT Do not draw bonds.
  • LINES Draws the bonds as lines.
  • CODELINES Draws the bond as a colored line. The color depends on the atoms at the end of the bond and changes halfway across the bond.
  • CYLINDERS Draws the bond as a lighted cylinder.
  • CODECYLINDERS Draws the bond as a lighted cylinder. The color depends on the atoms at the end of the bond and changes halfway between the two atoms.
  • LABEL Displays bond lengths in the units used in the input.
  • UNLABEL Turns off bond length display
  • The sliding panels control the bond radius. If LINES or CODELINES are selected, the "bond thickness" slider determines the bond with in pixels. If CYLINDERS or CODECYLINDERS are chosen, the "bond radius" slider is used to change the radius in the units used in the data input. Values may be typed in as well.

    Bonds

The "DISTANCE" input field allows a user to enter a value that is used by QMView to draw bonds between all atoms whose interatomic distances are less then or equal to this value. Alternatively, a user may select the "ATOMIC SPECIFIC DISTANCE", button and bonds will be drawn based on a Van Der Waals radius lookup table. (This is the same data used by GAMESS to print out bonds for MOLPLT files).

The COLOR button brings up the color panel described in the atom section. The color chosen effects the LINES and CYLINDERS bond rendering options.
